Evaluation - question 2

how does your media product represent particular social groups?
I've used a picture thats quite intimate, so she might be looking another direction but she's close to the camera and feels friendly. Her looking past the camera doesn't make it feel intimidating or pressured, it's just a friendly looking away.
This does attract my target group which is the younger generation. no one wants to get a magazine and feel intimidated by the person on the front cover, this makes it feel friendly approach.

Evaluation - question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
My masthead is in the top left hand corner. Most magazines will put their masthead here because you read from left to right and its at the top of the page so more people will notice it. Magazines like NME and Q also have their mastheads in the left hand corner. The different colours in the masthead are to show that the colour has changed and it also shows the theme colours of the whole magaizine. But the black on the picture of 'Sophie Kay' doesn't stand out as much, maybe use a lighter colour?

My image of 'Sophie Kay' is in the middle of the page, this is because she will be the centre of attention. She's the main article in the magazine so she needs to stand out. The masthead is on top on her head so that the heading is more important. The heading is only more important because this is a new magazine, maybe as the magazine carries on then the masthead will be behind the picture because more people will recognise the title of the magazine.

I have used a black background because it makes everything stand out more. All the writing is a pale colour so then all the smaller articles also stand out. This will make everyone notice not only the main picture but everything else around it as well.

All the fonts are different this is so that it will show a different kind of magazine type, so the 'who's this that's new?' is in italics and quite a thin font, this gives the mystery to it, and also the question mark will make people wonder who it is. With the other fonts they are so they stand out more and show different characteristics to the articles.

I have made the contents page with 2 separate parts, a features bit, and the Cover stories bit. This is so that people can find out whats on the cover with out having to turn back onto the cover and find out the title of the story they are looking for.

I have still kept in theme with the red and the black. I used this theme because it makes things stand out a lot more, the red makes the mind think of danger either consciously or sub-consciously, then the black on top of the red background makes the font stand out even more.

The font is pretty much all the same on the contents, this makes it look more organised and classy. The only font thats not the same is the 'A little note', it's san serif font, this makes it look more personal and a little more relaxed, this should appeal to the target audience as they are a younger type of person.
