I made a questionaire on SurveyMonkey and sent it on facebook. I sent it onto facebook and twitter because i have many people on there that go from a different age range and on twitter most of the people that i follow are from a different part of the country so it would be more of a fair survey if we got peoples opinions from all over the UK. Also i know that a lot of people go onto facebook and would be able to answer it for me.

From this questionaire I think I will be taking a lot of notcie to what people have said.
So we will base a lot of our music around Rock and pop, but we will have certain pages set aside for reggae, rap and RnB. Also we will be getting a lot of pictures of spontaneous but more of ones that have been photogrpahed becasue they're the type of pictures that people prefer. We'll stick with rounded font as people obviosly prefer it to be rounded. Also we'll make the magazine a monthly thing because then we'd have more time to have new things to put into it.
We will have a more equal line between bands and solo artists because people do prefer both, and as for the colour scheme, we will be using more eye catching colours so reds, blues and electric greens.

Contents page
On my contents page there will be a lot of colour, so that it feel friendly and casual. There will be a brick/graffeti kind of background that will make it look young and quite rebelious. The Font will be rounded like Comic sans, Calabri, or Verdana and not sharp and angular like times new roman or Courier. This rounded effect will give off a laid-back kind of image to the readers and make the whole magazine feel more relaxed.
On the cover there will be a lot of images so that the reader will be able to see whats in the magazine without having to read to much about it. So they might see a picture of someone they've not seen before and think that an article is in the magazine about a new artist. Or they might see some different album covers and think that there will be some album reviews or the top 20 albums. I want to make the magazine seem quite easy to read, not a lot of writing, but not so little that the audience of my magazine will feel immature and not so clever. On the top left hand corner there will be a picture of the front cover, this will be easier as instead of having to turn back to the cover to see if there is a story they want to read, they'd be able to look at it in the corner of the page. Next to the picture of the front cover there will be the cover stories list. So that they can easily look on the cover picture and then back to the contents list of the cover stories and then be able to turn to that page.
Under all the headings of the contents there will be a small sentence to describe what the page will be about. So for example one of the headings is 'I met. . .' then underneath this heading it says 'Write in your own stories of musicans that you have met!' This is a part of the magazine that the readers controll, and I think that readers will like that. They have a say at what people and pictures of them will go into the magazine. Also in the bottom Left cornere there will be a small note from the editor, this will make the magazine feel more personal from the readers point of view, because they note will talk about the readers and thank them on their different suggestions. There will also be an e-mail, twitter and facebook link at the bottom of the page so that the readers can e-mail, facebook or tweet in what kind of things they would like to be reading or seeing in the next weeks issue.
I find that this contents page will attract our younger audience because of the colourful yet rebelious colours. I also think that the e-mail, facebook and twitter link at the bottom is something they can relate to as well because now days it's all about the technology and social sites, but if we were doing a magazine for older audiences we might have put in an address they can write to as well. So that those who might not be up to date with the newer technology could still have a say in what they wanted.

Music magazine presentation
We have decided that our age range for the music magazine will be about 16-24 years old. We belive that this is the best audince to target because they are the main age that is affected by mainstream pop/rock. They can hear it on radio's, through their friends and social event, and sites like facebook and other social networks. They also all have some sort of music devise, it may be an iPod or MP3. We have also decided that we wouldn's want a specific gender for our magazine, we would like it to be for both girls and boys, because if we did have it for just girls for example then we would be having to try find a band or single artist each week that just aimed their music at girls. which would be quite a challenage. But we would also like to aim it at a mixed gender because we want a large market audience.
Music is a large part of a teenager's life, they listen to it basically everyday, via ipods when travelling, working, cleaning, walking etc. or it's a good talking point, they normally talk about whats in the charts or who's hot at the moment. Also they can relate their lives to it and feel that they're not alone with their problems.
Our magazine is an attempt to attract younger people to listen to mainstream pop/rock bands. We will do this wit ha feature every week on a band, eaither old or new depending on whats the talk of the week, and have some spontanious or photo shoot photo's of them also along with maybe an interview, or looking to the lives of their tours and general life. We'll also have a section where the audience can write to the magazine and say what they think would be best for the magazine, and if the magazine needs to be improved at all. To attract the audience to the magazine we will also have free give aways, it might be vouchers so they can download new hits off the internet for free, also might include gig tickets and other music related objects, e.g. headphones. Also competitions will be included so you can win things, like a day with the band, or V.I.P tickets .Also we'll have chart listings for the singles and the albums, qand what new releases are coming out that week or month.
We will make our magazine stand out from the rest by making it look really cool, relaxed and have a modern style that teenagers and young adults can relate to. Also we'll make it colorful and vibrant, make it stand out from the rest so people will go into a shop and straight away see our magazine over everyone elses.

Analysis of draft magazine cover
Medium Close up of a student - We don't have a medium close up of a person, we only have a student and a teacher from a far off shot. It has quite a bit of their body and a lot of background in it. So next time we are going to have to take a picture of a mediumclose up. This is going to be a close up of a student from their waist up.
Text appropriotly laid out - The text needs to change, it's not very attention grabbing, like we have 'new clubs for all years' this doesn't really make people want to pick it up and read it. Also we need to change the masthead, make it bigger and change the font, because it's not standing out and not conecting with the readers. We're going to change the font to something more informal and casual so that our target audience are going to want to pick and read through it. The text also needs to be bolder and not so narrow.
We asked three different people to look at our magazine and leave a few comments under the following headings
Overall effect
1. It makes you want to read it
2. Obvious it's a school magazine
3. colourful
Images
1. good logo's, but the image is a bit blurry
2. Needs a few more pictures, only one at the moment
3. good image, but the logo's are covering the girls face
Text
1. Intriging
2. clear masthead, the bottom feature could stand out more
3. More features, the others aren't that interesting at the moment
